While Spanish is one of the most spoken languages in the world, the verb system can be quite challenging for many. The quantity of conjugations in Spanish compared to English makes it one of the most difficult parts of the language to master.
Regular verbs are broken into three groupings for conjugation: ending in -ar, -er, or -ir. The conjugation then follows this pattern:
- Verbs ending in -ar = o, as, a, amos, áis, an
- Verbs ending in -er = o, es, e, emos, éis, en
- Verbs ending in -ir = o, es, e, imos, ís, en
Here are some regular action verbs that are good to know:
- Trabajar = to work
- Correr = to run
- Escribir = to write
- Hablar = to speak, to talk
- Empezar = to start
- Seguir = to follow
Understanding how to conjugate the most commonly used regular verbs will give you a huge jump start towards having conversations in Spanish.
